Expressions of Sympathy
One of the most profitable areas in the floral business is in sympathy design. It is also one of the most misused areas. The Academy instructor, Don J. Pfannenstiel AIFD, AAF, PFCI, KAFA, shows some good basic design techniques. He starts with the traditional triangular arrangement and shows you the mechanics and how to give your arrangements depth. He designs a flat spray using a water pack and, once again, emphasis style and construction. The final phase of the tape is designing a casket piece. It starts with the attaching of the floral foam to the casket saddle and continues step by step to the completion of the piece.
This tape becomes a tool to learn the mechanics, construction, and basic design elements in the artful creation of sympathy work. Along with the total series, “Becoming a Floral Artist” this tape will complete your basic design library.

They Don’t Have to Look Like Funeral Flowers
It’s all about style. Did your last customer say, “which one was mine, they all looked the same”? That is the one thing you don’t want to hear. Your funeral work will take on a whole new dimension after viewing this video presentation. Demonstrations on designing high style arrangements, easel sprays, and casket pieces are shown. After each segment, several examples are given to strengthen what was demonstrated. It is time that we put style back into flower arranging, and especially sympathy work.
This video shows the importance of grouping and clustering of flowers and the use of color. Our instructor, Don J. Pfannenstiel AIFD, AAF, PFCI, KAFA, will also show you how to make your work a cut above the rest. He will show you how to get the greatest visual impact in your work. You will truly become a floral artist.
